Plain answers about Tallystead
Where does my financial data live?
On the household-controlled Tallystead server, database, and object storage. Core use does not require a Tallystead vendor cloud account.
Does Tallystead require the internet?
No external internet or vendor service is required for core use. A browser still needs network access to the household server, usually over the local network.
Does Tallystead send data to cloud AI?
No hosted AI provider is configured by default. Optional local AI connects only after household configuration and remains advisory.
How do backups work?
Portable household exports exclude authentication and integration secrets. Infrastructure recovery backups include database and object storage and are encrypted. Follow maintained recovery documentation.
How are transactions imported?
Tallystead supports manual-first and user-controlled import/review workflows. Exact supported formats should be checked against the current release.
Can I reach Tallystead away from home?
Remote access is an explicit operator decision, not a requirement. If enabled, it must be configured with appropriate HTTPS, proxy, identity, and recovery controls.
What devices are supported?
Tallystead is a self-hosted web application. Exact browser and deployment support must be confirmed in the current release documentation.
Is the public demo live?
Not yet. The hosted interactive demo is separately isolated work and does not block this static website.
